Oiseau - Bird

I admit it...I am a nerdy bird watcher. After my cats passed away it became all about the birds. Thanks to my friend, Gail, it started out as a suet cake here and a bird feeder there and before you know it, I now feel personally responsible for the care and welfare of all sundry of birds.

Cardinals, Downy Woodpeckers, Black Capped Chickadees, Finches, Sparrows, Robins, Tufted Titmouses and a surprise bird or two passing through for a knosh gather regularly and flutter around their feast. That is until a Blue Jay or a flock of Starlings swoop in. In addition, chipmunks, both grey and red squirrels and the occasional Canadian Goose become regulars.

Unfortunately, my tall pine trees attract the Red Tail Hawks and they can quickly swoop down and grab a squirrel for their meal. Lorraine, ma belle-mère, saw the fun in this (feeding the birds that is) and started feeding her birds at home in France her left over French bread. Sometimes, she would even butter it for them!

Now every time we visit them, we see a suet cake here and a bird feeder there...

Blue Jay - Jay Bleu
Robin - Rouge Gorge
Duck - Canard
Parrot - Perroquet
Bat - Chauve-Souris
Squirrel - Ecureuil
Eagle - l'aigle
Hawk - Faucon
Goose - Oie
