La Joconde aka Mona Lisa

The shy, knowing smile serenely looks out at us from behind her protective bullet-proof case. La Joconde is now the most famous and recognizable painting on the planet. Housed in the Louvre in Paris she is privileged to meet everyone that graces its corridors. For over 500 years she has been lovingly protected, coveted, and abducted with a few assassination attempts made now and then. What an adventurous life! I don't think in her wildest dreams did Lisa del Giocondo ever imagine she would be so famous.
